This workshop provides drivers with practical skills and decision-making strategies to reduce risk on the road. Participants learn how to identify hazards early, maintain safe space and visibility, and adjust driving based on traffic, weather, and road conditions. Core topics include:
- Defensive driving principles (seeing the whole picture, anticipation, risk reduction)
- Speed management and following distance
- Understanding reaction time and stopping distances
- Situational awareness and common collision avoidance techniques
- Managing distracted driving, fatigue, and impaired driving risks
- Communication with other road users (signals, positioning, eye contact)
- Emergency procedures and safe responses to unexpected hazards

- Minimum 19 years of age
- Meet ICBC Medical Fitness and Vision Standards
- Valid Class 4 Unrestricted Learners’ License
- Copy of Current Drivers’ Abstract
