Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe and define key computer and software related terms.
- Describe the hardware, features, and functions of computer systems and be able to use each effectively.
- Describe computer operating systems, file hierarchy, and local, wide, and cloud-based networks and be able to use each effectively.
- Obtain, install, configure, update, and manage applications and apply basic trouble shooting techniques to hardware and application problems across a variety of devices.
- Identify the security risks associated with being connected to the Cloud.
- Identify how to protect personal and professional information when using any devices connected to the Cloud.
- Conduct fundamental Internet searches using available search engines and tools.
- Effectively use blogs, forums, wikis and other forms of social media.
- Describe emerging health related issues associated with prolonged use of connected devices.
Basic Requirements
- High School Completion: Applicants must have a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
- Age Requirement: Minimum 19 years of age.
- Mature Student Status*: Applicants who have not completed high school and are at least 19 years of age, may apply as a mature student.
*Mature student status may be granted to applicants who are over 19 years old and have not completed high school or equivalent. The applicants will be considered for admission based on the skills and experience they have acquired since leaving school. The applicant is required to provide the most recent transcripts or proof of academic accomplishments, a resume or summary of professional accomplishments, and two letters of recommendation from both their current and previous employers. The applicant may be interviewed by the Registrar’s or Academic office to further assess their suitability for admission to the program of study.

- Maintain a minimum attendance rate of 80% for all scheduled courses
- Achieve a minimum overall score of 70% to successfully pass.
