This program is designed primarily for individuals who aspire to move into leadership positions within the rapidly expanding long-term care industry, but is also open to those with experience in other industries. The program will provide you with an overview of the key concepts necessary for successful leadership in long-term care. You will learn about the uniqueness of the long-term care environment, the legislative considerations and the population being served. You will be challenged to apply concepts that support a culture of continuous quality improvement where residents feel safe, secure and satisfied in receiving care that meets their needs.

Upon successful completion of this program, the student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:
- Analyze the administration and management of long-term care services, including funding models, regulatory requirements, and operational challenges, to improve service quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Apply ethical principles and cultural competency to promote resident advocacy and address diverse needs in long-term care settings.
- Utilize effective communication strategies to foster collaboration between families, residents, staff, and care teams.
- Design wellness and behavioral management programs to address the mental health needs of residents and enhance their quality of life.
- Plan nutritional and lifestyle interventions that support healthy aging and mitigate chronic disease risks among LTC residents.
- Implement healthcare technology and digital documentation tools to optimize efficiency and accuracy in long-term care management.
- Develop risk management practices that ensure adherence to compliance regulations and promote a safe care environment.
- Apply leadership principles and HR strategies to enhance staff performance and foster a supportive workplace culture in LTC facilities.
- Incorporate integrative therapies and palliative care approaches to provide holistic and compassionate care for residents at all stages of life.
- Design rehabilitation and restorative care programs to improve resident independence and mobility while achieving measurable outcomes.
- Implement sustainable and environmentally friendly practices to reduce the ecological footprint of long-term care facilities.
- Develop and manage volunteer programs and resources to align with facility goals and enhance resident engagement and quality of life.
To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Basic Admission Requirements
- High School Completion: Applicants must have a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
- Age Requirement: Minimum 19 years of age.
- Mature Student Status*: Applicants who have not completed high school and are at least 19 years of age may apply as a mature student.
2. English Language Proficiency
Applicants must meet one of the following:
- Minimum scores from accepted English tests (e.g., IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 46, Duolingo 95, etc.).
- Recent English proficiency test (within 2 years).
- Proof of English-language education:
- 2–3 years of secondary or post-secondary education completed in English in eligible countries.
- International credentials must be recognized by WES, ICES, or IQAS.

To successfully complete the program, students must meet ALL of the following requirements:
- Achieve a minimum grade of 50% on each course’s final examination/presentation
- Maintain a minimum attendance rate of 80% for all scheduled courses
- Obtain a minimum overall grade of 70% in each course to pass
