Class 5/7 Instructor Training

For those with at least three years of driving experience, this program is a combination of theoretical and practical training on becoming a certified Class 5/7 instructor. It includes basic classes on teaching, communication, and driving laws and regulations.

Our in-depth training is a blend of practical experience and theory instruction.  We cover a range of topics ensuring our trainees acquire skills beyond industry standards.  A few of the topics taught and discussed include:

  • Current laws and regulations
  • Student learning curves
  • Observation skills
  • Effective communication techniques
  • Innovative coaching techniques
  • Advanced skill development
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Teaching basic and advanced manoeuvres

Admission Requirements

  • Valid class 5 license for a minimum of three years
  • Safe driving record
  • Medical exam 
  • Criminal record check
  • Written approval from the ICBC to attend a Class 5-7 Instructor Training Program

Potential Careers

Upon successful completion of this course, students will have the skills and knowledge to be a competent driving instructor.

Credentials Provided

Instructor Trainer Certification; GLP practical designation on the Instructor’s license
