The Retirement Community Administration Diploma prepares students for administrative and coordination roles within retirement and senior living communities. The program focuses on developing skills in office administration, documentation management, scheduling, customer service, event coordination, and regulatory compliance support. Students also learn professional communication, cultural sensitivity, and the basics of HR and financial support functions as they relate to senior living operations.

Upon successful completion of this program, the student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:
- Implement administrative procedures that support daily operations within retirement communities.
- Create a marketing campaign targeting potential residents and their families, focusing on the unique offerings and benefits of the retirement community.
- Identify key human resource policies relevant to senior care, ensuring administrative support for staff scheduling, documentation, and onboarding.
- Develop a financial plan that supports the long-term sustainability of a retirement community, addressing budgetary needs and resource allocation.
- Investigate operational challenges in senior housing administration and propose strategies to overcome them.
- Analyze case studies to identify effective organizational practices in retirement communities and apply those learnings to real-world scenarios.
- Identify key regulations governing aging services, ensuring compliance with standards such as the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA).
- Conduct a risk assessment for a retirement community, identifying potential hazards and developing strategies to mitigate them.
- Implement operational improvements in a retirement community to enhance efficiency, resident satisfaction, and compliance with regulations.
- Assist in planning administrative support tasks for recreation or hospitality programs without providing or designing resident wellness or care services.
- Apply gerontological theories to real-world scenarios in senior care, promoting best practices that address the needs of older adults.
- Design a comprehensive crisis management framework for senior care facilities, ensuring preparedness for emergencies.
- Implement culturally sensitive practices in administrative interactions with residents, acknowledging their diverse backgrounds and needs.
- Develop a communication strategy to enhance interactions between staff, residents, and families within a senior community.
- Use technology platforms to support administrative tasks such as record-keeping, scheduling, communication, and service coordination.
To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Basic Admission Requirements
- High School Completion: Applicants must have a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
- Age Requirement: Minimum 19 years of age.
- Mature Student Status*: Applicants who have not completed high school and are at least 19 years of age may apply as a mature student.
*Mature student status may be granted to applicants who are over 19 years old and have not completed high school or equivalent. Applicants will be considered for admission based on the skills and experience they have acquired since leaving school. Applicants are required to provide the most recent transcripts or proof of academic accomplishments, a resume or summary of professional accomplishments, and two professional letters of recommendation. Applicants may be interviewed by the Registrar’s or Academic office to further assess their suitability for admission to the program of study.
2. English Language Proficiency
Applicants must meet one of the following:
- Minimum scores from accepted English tests (e.g., IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 46, Duolingo 95, etc.).
- Recent English proficiency test (within 2 years).
- Proof of English-language education:
- 2–3 years of secondary or post-secondary education completed in English in eligible countries.
- International credentials must be recognized by WES, ICES, or IQAS.

To successfully complete the program, students must meet ALL of the following requirements:
- Achieve a minimum grade of 50% on each course’s final examination/presentation
- Maintain a minimum attendance rate of 80% for all scheduled courses
- Obtain a minimum overall grade of 70% in each course to pass
